Description

Create Your Sake Ware – Handmade Porcelain Ware

Hand-building | Beginner (2.5 Hours)

Drink sake in the traditional Japanese rice wine served in exquisite handmade porcelain ware made by your hands.

Create your sake ware using hand-building techniques like pinching, slab-building and coiling. The handmade porcelain ware enhances the sake drinking experience and adds an artistic touch to your table setting.

The hand-building techniques involve shaping the clay by hand rather than using a pottery wheel. These techniques require patience, precision, and attention to detail, but the result is a unique and personalised sake ware you can be proud of.

The handmade porcelain ware embodies the philosophy of wabi-sabi, a Japanese aesthetic that values simplicity, celebrating the imperfections, the irregularities of the clay and the beauty of natural materials.

Creating your own sake ware using hand-building techniques can be a fulfilling and meditative experience. Get ready to embark on this creative journey to make unique and beautiful sake ware.

Chill in the comfort of a homey setting to create your masterpiece, where local ceramicist Agnes Lim will share the art of pottery. Be prepared to get your hands dirty through hand-building –– pinching, coiling, slab work –– one of the oldest methods involving handmade ceramics without a pottery wheel.

This workshop is ideal for people who would like to try their hands on pottery, make their unique ceramic wares, create memories for special events and bond with friends and family.
