Internal Landscape: The Quiet Stirring — Agnes Lim & Yoon Jungeun

A Duo Exhibition at Mulan Gallery, Singapore | 14 April – 9 May 2026

A Theme That Felt Like Recognition

The concept for this exhibition emerged in early January, and the moment I encountered the theme, I knew I wanted to be part of it. Internal Landscape: The Quiet Stirring a Singapore Exhibition that speaks directly to where I find myself at this stage of life — and that kind of resonance is reason enough.

On Being Present in Two Places

“At my core, I am an artist by nature — it is my vocation, my identity, the thread that runs through everything I do.”

For those who may have noticed my quieter presence online, here is a little context. At my core, I am an artist by nature — it is my vocation, my identity, the thread that runs through everything I do. Alongside this, I maintain an intermittent role as Gallery Manager at Mulan Gallery, my representing gallery in Singapore — a relationship grounded in long-standing trust and shared values. The role keeps me grounded in a way that complements the more solitary, inward nature of my practice.

The Artist, The Curator, The Quiet Choice

This exhibition was curated and organised together with Patricia Liang of Mulan Gallery. What we put together was done with full professionalism — without compromise or bias. That matters to me, because wearing both hats as an artist and as a curator means I hold myself to a higher standard on both fronts. I am perhaps more critical of the works I present precisely because I understand the responsibility from either side of that conversation.

Managing both roles also means I manage everything at my own pace — including my social media and website, entirely on my own. So rather than stretch myself thin, I have made a conscious choice to slow down. That decision comes with trade-offs: I am less prolific, less visible online, and less active in running workshops. But what I gain is more time with each piece, more space to think, and a deeper sense of care in everything I put out. I am not being lazy — I am being selective.

Every time an exhibition approaches, two versions of me show up. One is quiet and unhurried. The other wants to create something memorable — for myself and for every person who stands in front of my work. I have learnt to hold both.

In Their Own Time

One of the pieces in this exhibition had been with me for some time, unfinished. I had not been ready to complete it — not because I had lost interest, but because my state of mind had not yet found its way into the work. A piece deserves to be given its best life, and sometimes that simply requires waiting.

It was also a genuine admiration for Yoon Jungeun’s practice that drew me towards this collaboration. Her work carries a similar quietness — a gentleness in its essence that feels familiar to my own sensibility. Sharing a space with her felt right.

If you happen to visit the gallery and see me there, please do say hello. I can be a little introverted on some days — do excuse me for that — but I always enjoy meeting new faces.

Come experience the show, running from 14 April to 9 May, and allow yourself a slow moment.
