ARTISAN-CRAFTED PORCELAIN

Ceramic Bridges 瓷艺之桥’ (cí yì zhī qiáo) (Series) delves into the evocative blue-and-white memories of the maritime Silk Road, capturing Singapore’s distinguished legacy as a vital hub for maritime trade. Ceramic Bridges is a modernised, simplified design that draws inspiration from the tradition of blue-and-white porcelain—a celebrated artefact that, over centuries of global trade, has evolved into a symbol of cross-cultural exchange. In Chinese culture, porcelain pots transcend their utilitarian function, embodying profound symbolic meanings. They serve as vessels for conveying cultural values, beliefs, and aspirations, making them integral to the narrative of heritage and identity. Blue and White Porcelain (⻘花瓷 pinyin: qīng huā cí) has been closely linked to royalty and the aristocracy. These exquisite pieces were often exchanged between royal families and political leaders, not only as tokens of respect and mutual understanding but also as emblems of prestige and prosperity.
